Hi friends! Not to toot my own horn here, but I think I really made something super delicious with these popsicles. They're truly delectable, and they serve a need – need – to taste fall flavors despite the Texas heat. August = fall in the Teson household and things like "weather" aren't going to bring my cinnamon dusted mood down. 

I'm getting ready for full-blown fall mode, but I can't ignore that it's 100 degrees outside. On the days that I have to brave the heat, these fall popsicles are refreshing while satisfying my hunger for autumny things.

Hi, friends and happy August! Happy August, indeed. It's only the second day, and our schedule is filling up. Last night we celebrated our wedding anniversary with Impossible Burgers at Hopdoddy, and this weekend is going to be filled to the brim with super fun things like arcades, games, and dinner parties. August is always a busy month in our home as we balance those last bits of summer fun with back-to-school. Among other things that back-to-school brings, we like the routine of it. It's been a full summer for us, and we're both ready to enjoy this remaining bit of the season while moving on to the next.

A big part of our full summer this year was our trip to California. The very last thing we did before heading to the airport was settle into LA's finest chips and salsa flight at Malo in Silverlake.

Happy Christmas in July, friends! It certainly has felt like Christmas in July for us. We just got back from a week long vacation in California which included trips to Disneyland and a mountain top resort. Pure magic all around! We also spent a ton of time in LA which is just one of my all time favorite cities. We tried Impossible Burgers at Crossroads, ate produce from the Hollywood Farmer's Market, tried Veggie Grill for the first time, and enjoyed beautiful wine and cats on the Central Coast. Southern California is so invigorating and renewing. Whenever we visit we come home super inspired in food, lifestyle, and health.

Hi friends! A while back on Instagram I asked if anyone would be opposed to fall-ish recipes before we actually get to the season. The response was so positive, and it affirmed just how much I love y'all. Don't worry though, I'm not going full fall before we even get to June. I'm a fan of summer, and August will be here soon enough. What I can say is that I'm already working on fall projects, and my advice is to get excited. 

But that doesn't matter right now. What matters is that it's hot outside and I'm feeling summer flavors and frozen desserts.

This started when I wanted to make some nachos for the Big Game, and I thought that something BBQ-y would be a fun change of pace. However, vegan bbq tends to just mean stuff flavored with liquid smoke, and while I'm down with liquid smoke, I really wanted something smoked for real. I may be vegan, but I'm also Texan, and I know the difference.

These beautiful Dairy-Free Cotton Candy Milkshakes are my goodbye to this rough summer.

If you asked me in May what I thought my summer would look like I would have basically described this milkshake. Bright, happy, colorful, sweet, and really really pink. Cotton candy milkshakes had a real moment at the beginning of summer, and maybe that influenced me a bit. Or maybe it was the fact that my 30s were mere weeks away. 

Either way, I wanted a neon summer with stickers, and coloring, and pink and sprinkles, and cookies, and donuts and more cookies. While I ended up having very few of those things, I did get some pink foods in by way of rosé and pops.

This Gingerbread White Wine Cocktail was created out of my determination to truly celebrate Christmas in July this year. Every summer I think about doing something for the holiday, and I always forget until the day of. Not this year!

Yesterday we decorated our place with Christmas decor, threw on some Christmas music, made our house really cold, and invited friends over to feast on gingerbread cookies, spiced cider, and this cocktail. It was such a fun way to get cozy in the middle of summer. I barely even noticed that it was 98 degrees outside.

Is it fall yet? Serious question.

This summer has been emotionally difficult for my husband and me, and a big part of us is ready to move on to fall. I mean I'm always ready for fall, but now I'm like really ready for fall. We're ready for football, for pumpkins, for Halloween and Thanksgiving. For chex mixgame day food, and autumn beer. 

When I ask "Is it fall yet?" I guess I'm not seriously wondering. The Texas heat lets me know exactly what season I'm in. I'm really just throwing this request out to polite society: Can we start early this year? 

Stores start rolling out fall stuff in like mid-August so can we just push it up a few weeks early? Please?

Stuffing focaccia is going to become a real thing in this house. I've never tried stuffing bread like this before, and it's kind of awesome, you guys. And did you know that basil and chocolate are delicious together?! As you can see, this recipe blew my mind on so many levels.

How legit does this fried rice look? I mean really. I looks like it came straight from a Chinese take-out box, and it tastes like it did, too. I thought I'd be eating more take-out while I work on my upcoming Fall book, but somehow I've been able to find pockets of time to still cook for us. When those time pockets aren't available though, my husband takes over. He's a doll like that.

Frozen Candy Cane Fluff – Merry Christmas in July!


I know I'm scootchin in right at the end of Xmas in July, but better late than never, right? Do y'all know that I usually start my real Christmas preparations in July? That sounds insane, but if you do a little bit each month it makes for a smoother, more enjoyable holiday. However, this year I can't even begin to think about Christmas. I'm like really late to Christmas in July in so many ways. But let's not dwell. Today, I'm sharing with you my new creation that I predict will win hearts and bellies world over: Frozen Fluff. 

Frozen Fluff is a hybrid of freezer whip (ala Cool Whip) and marshmallow fluff. The texture is gooey and fluffy, and really fun to eat. It's easy to make, requires just a few ingredients, and contains no nuts, milk (dairy or otherwise), bananas, or gluten. So what the heck is in it?

I miss these cookies. I'm posting them now, but I actually made them weeks ago. I'm just looking at them here, and remembering how good they were. How much they took me back to those cheapo cookies I ate as a kid, and how this batch was all gone in less than 24 hours.

These Vegan Circus Snack Cookies are inspired by Baking the Goods' recipe for homemade Circus Animal Cookies. If you're unfamiliar, Circus 
Animal Cookies are these little animal shaped graham cookies covered in a waxy coating and topped with sprinkles. They're cheap, un-vegan on so many levels, and leave memories that paint them as the tastiest snack ever.
