Upcoming Blog Series: Old Fashioned Wifery – Vintage Domesticity for the Modern Wife

I am so excited to announce my upcoming weekly series for Old Fashioned Wifery: Vintage Domesticity for the Modern Wife!

I could go on and on about my love for domestic life. I thrive in taking care of my family more than I’ve ever thrived in anything else. More than any hobby, more than any career path I’ve taken, and certainly more than any job. Laundry, litter, mending, scrubbing, cooking, wiping, soaking – I love each bit of it and view every day that I get to do this as a blessing.

I’d like to state right here and now that this series in no way intends to imply that a wife’s place is in the home. A wife’s place is where ever in the world she wants to be. The series is also not exclusive to wives. If you have a home you should be able to relate! These little reflections come from my heart, and some might resonate with you while others may not. That’s ok! Life’s a journey, and we’re all on our own paths. Luckily, my suggestions for incorporating “old fashioned” tasks into your life won’t require big yellow cleaning gloves, or 12 available hours.

Every week this July I will feature one of the few ways I strive to follow the example of our mothers and grandmothers. They were able to manage their households without apps, without disposable bathroom towels, without boxed cookies, constant clothing purchases, 87 different skin care products, or the various other sundries we’re expected to endorse.

Throughout the series I invite you to share in the comments what you do to connect with your foremothers, or what you don’t do because the modern ways suit you better. I would love to know about your path!

Come back this Wednesday for my first post in the series!
